Members of the class of 1974 gather in front of William C.W. Mow Hall to celebrate their 50th reunion.

On Friday, September 27, more than 300 alumni gathered at Peak for an evening of reconnection and celebration. Alumni spanning the classes of 1959 to 2019, along with many familiar faculty members, shared laughter, fond memories, and stunning views of the NYC skyline. Over drinks, they reminisced about their time at Riverdale and the paths they’ve taken since graduating. Jenna Langel Witten ’06, Vice President of the Alumni Association Executive Committee, introduced Head of School Kari Ostrem, who presented the Ernest McAneny Alumni Spirit Award to Alain Silverio ’89, honoring his exceptional dedication to the school.

The festivities continued the next day on Riverdale’s Hill Campus with Homecoming, a celebration that brought together over 1,000 alumni, students, families, and faculty to show their Falcon pride. The Lower School kicked off the afternoon with a spirited parade of students proudly holding banners featuring their graduation year and signatures. Kari Ostrem followed with a welcome address, reminding everyone of the deep bonds within the community. Alumni gathered under the Alumni Hospitality Tent for specialty drinks, delicious bites, great conversation, and custom t-shirt printing.

Of course, no Homecoming would be complete without sports! Saturday’s excitement peaked with varsity matchups against Horace Mann and Poly Prep, showcasing the athletic talents of Riverdale’s student-athletes. The Falcons faced off in soccer, volleyball, football, water polo, and field hockey, with the entire community rallying behind them. The energy was electric as fans filled the sidelines, cheering on their teams on a day of friendly competition and sportsmanship. Whether on the field, in the pool, or on the court, the Falcons flew high, embodying perseverance, teamwork, and Riverdale pride.
